Best Dressed at the Oscars Red Carpet 2012

The Oscars red carpet for 2012 was all about these three S-words - sparkle, strapless and (playing it) safe.
Colour was out in force - largely reds, blues and greens - with a trend of whites!
Many of the long flowing gowns were either completely covered in sequins and beading or embellished at the waist, bust-line or sleeve. Check out my picks of the Best Dressed yesterday!

London Fashion Week: Stella McCartney flash-mob Fashion

A magic show, live jazz, and supermodels dancing on tables - Stella McCartney's special London Fashion Week show was electric.
The first wave of guests, invited for drinks and dinner (others were admitted in successive waves; fashion can be cruelly Upstairs, Downstairs sometimes) milled around in their cocktail frocks and black tie, sipping champagne, listening to Ronnie Scott's big band play 40s jazz numbers, chatting to the models, all of whom were wearing McCartney's new collection - and wondering when everything was going to kick off. All week McCartney's PRs had been playing their cards extremely close to their chest.
Then, just as the fourth vegetarian mini course was slipping down, a model seated at one of the tables yelled at a waiter, someone threw a chair, someone else leapt across the room in full attack mode and before the startled guests, who included Kate Moss, Rihanna, Peter Blake, Zaha Hadid, Paul Whitehouse, Richard E Grant and Minnie Driver, grasped quite what was going on, a flash-mob fashion show was taking place

Mary Katrantzou for Topshop

One of London Fashion Week's brightest talents, designer Mary Katrantzou has created a nine-piece collection for Topshop.

The standout piece from the collection is the 'Pheasant Dream' dress. Reminiscent of a porcelain vase, with a fuchsia bouquet formed around a high neckline and a floral china Ming vase skirt, the item is made from satin and retails at £350.

The range goes on sale in selected Topshop stores on February 17.

Madonna 's extravaganza at the 2012 Super Bowl XLVI (46)

Did Madonna put on the greatest show on Earth?

The 53-year-old legend took the biggest stage in the world, the 2012 Super Bowl Halftime Show, and brought the house down. She dressed to impress, sporting a gold headdress, black thigh-high boots, a youthful pleated miniskirt, a black sequined robe and gold cheerleader pom-poms. The opening number was "Vogue," featuring dozens of Vogue covers lit up across the stage.

Appropriately, Madonna didn't skip on the high fashion, trotting around the multi-level stage in Givenchy Couture and Bulgari with little helpers M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj wearing Erickson Beamon headpieces. Her black liquid eyeliner looks flawless and her blonde waves were perfectly in place.
But despite the expensive threads, Madonna was her old self: turning cartwheels, showing off her bejeweled panties, writhing on the ground before Cee-Lo Green (in head-to-toe black sequins, natch) and making us all forget there was even a football game in session.
Girl's still got it. Check out the epic, fashion-filled, black-and-gold extravaganza that was Madonna's Super Bowl halftime performance below.

When did size 6 become a PLUS size?

Twenty year ago average fashion models weighted 8% less than the average woman, today they weight 23% less, and most runway models meet the Body mass index physical criteria for Anorexia.
Ten year ago plus-size models averaged between size 12 and 18. Today the need for size diversity within the plus-size modeling industry continues to be questioned. The majority of plus-size models are between a size 6 and 14, while the customers continue to express their dissatisfaction! does that mean that 14plus is now considered obese?
The most over-used word in fashion and beauty marketing right now is “aspirational.” Advertisers want to show consumers better versions of themselves, this is what they claim, are we better skinnier? More than once we've fallen for buying a bikini from Victoria’s Secret because it looked so amazing on the model, especially for designer fashion where all is about the fantasy. What do you think? Are the plus-size women missing out on their better versions?  Are we buying fantasies that eventually will turn into nightmares ? or Could a size 8-10 model be the next Kate Moss?

I have seen super stylish & sexy women size 8 to 14 and also model looking fashionistas size 6 to 8... it's about HOW you feel good about yourself not the number you read on the tag on the scale!

(Check out Plus-size 6-14 " Closer to Normal ;) size" models pix below...( the models we see now on the runway and in the ads are in general size 0 or 00)

Worth every penny of that $3.5m spot: First look at the David Beckham for H&M Super Bowl Commercial!

It goes without saying that the ads that run during the Super Bowl are as eagerly anticipated as the game itself. And one in particular is sure to have the full attention of female viewers.
H&M this morning released its first commercial for David Beckham Bodywear, which will  make its debut during the second quarter of the NFL championship final.
Starring the man himself, the 30-second black-and-white ad, set to the song Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood by The Animals, shows close-ups of the soccer star's many tattoos and flawless body. The launch of the bodywear is on the 2nd of Feb!
