Chanel // The Metiers d'Art Show // 2012 Pre-Fall Collection

At the Galerie Courbe in the Grand Palais in Paris, Karl Lagerfeld prsented the Chanel extravaganza, Indian-inspired fashion show as guests dined on opulent 'runway' feast fit for royalty.

The Metiers d'Art show, launched in 2003 as a homage to the label's workshop.

But the event was tinged with a touch of sadness as couturier Francois Lesage, head of the renowned embroidery atelier acquired by Chanel in 2002, died last week, aged 83. But as usual, the show must go on - and go on it did.
They dined using gold-plated cutlery and were served by waiters throughout the show - a far cry from the champagne and canapes usually served.
Models, adorned with accessories including head-jewellery and turbans - also for men - walked the epic runway sporting the 2012 pre-fall collection.

Creative director Lagerfeld often looks abroad for inspiration & I love that ! as I strongly believe in Cultural Diffusion through fashion...you know that:)

30 Years of Karen Millen with us!

The Autumn/Winter 2011 season marks the 30th anniversary of Karen Millen and to thank us:)  for our  loyalty KM are hosting 30 parties in 30 cities around the world, in addition to special offers, launching an inspired 30th anniversary gift collection and more.
Well I don’t really know about the other parties that Karen Millen hosted around the world, but I can surely tell you about Dubai Fab Party! The thing is that I really don’t know where to start,

I mean the Collection itself was like celebrating “Richness”  by using extremely abundant colours, textures & paterns, the patern for example in signature dresses is printed alongside each other in order for it to flow around the contour of the body, as for the lace in some designs has been toughened by cutting it into a strict silhouette with military epaulette and glossy metal work, couldn’t help but notice the details in each and every piece, it is indeed the craft behind every design! I so Loved the bag studs collection in the picture &  YES ALL the shoes! … pls. check them out at Karen Millen boutiques they are super stylish! & also check out the Behind the scenes Karen Millen Campaign video ( scroll down)
The crowd  at the show was truly exceptional almost all of the Dubai Fashionistas did not miss it out! I can say there were 2 catwalks at the party!;) The ambience was so relaxed that for once I felt as if it was a Fashion girls night out! One of the most talked about events this year! Well done KM :)

Wadih El Najjar Knows Fashion...

He is the Man behind the rising socialites of Dubai, he is the Friend who hangs out with stars and the Photographer behind many outstanding fashion shoots . He grabs not only the media attention but fashionistas every time for his style//smile:) and sense of fashion mainly because he takes risks - mostly with great success - that the rest of us would stumble with.

Whether he is out at the mall of at a lavish party Wadih knows how to work fashion to the max, to the max indeed, when his love for Fashion is translated into photography the excellence emerges! And it was no coincidence that many brands chose him to show off their collections “He understands fashion, it makes the whole process much easier & his angles are creative and unconventional” (quote from a client).
Some of WN work

He spoke to me about his latest shoot with the lovely Anoud Badr “I wanted her to look stunning as she is in real life, and wasn’t a hard job” I must say "Wadih you've done a superb job, Anoud looks her best in these shots!" and he got me all excited to check out “Lady Fozaza” blazers, he describes them as sooo different, classy, fashionable and will sure be worn by fashionable, sexy ladies! Now that I've seen the collection I describe them as "the New interpretation of Glamour"

From a  private chitchat to a private lesson  from someone who’s out there where the glam is, always! Wadih loves the fashion vibes carried by the community in  our region, he believes that women here are "Tres Chic" and men are now well aware of trends ( some are on their way, but they’ll get there eventually)…

TIPS for us Ladies!!! from the professional on how to look good in pictures: here’s the secret!!! Number one be Simple and Chic, take a pose; one leg crossed in front of the other, & most important part is... to look thinner, facing the camera straight on makes you look wider, you will look better if you turn your body slightly, move one shoulder closer to the photographer, feet close together, straighten your spine and roll your shoulders back & to form a natural-looking smile, take a breath and then smile…
Smile :) The End!
