La Prairie “Bouquet de Jardin”

La Prairie, teamed up with makeup artist, Rachel Wade, for its first color collection, “Bouquet de Jardin,” a bouquet of colour wrapped in luxury. Inspired by the gorgeous, bold peonies blooming in Brooklyn Botanical Garden, La Prairie Colour Ambassador, Wade, created the perfect canvas of colour for its Summer 2011 collection.
Some of the key components of the collection are its: Cellular Treatment Eye Colour Ensemble, Cellular Radiance Cream Blush, a silver compact filled with long-wearing, non-drying cheek color, an item I sampled and loved! Also, are Luxe Eye and Lip Definers.
Both CHEEK TO CHIC (Rachel Wade) and La Prairie share the same philosophy that clean, beautiful makeup begins with gorgeous skin, no matter what your age. I’ve sampled these colours and love the warm glow and soft, subtle beauty on my skin!

Tips from Rachel for how to manage your makeup bag and what tricks to use for summer makeup application:
  • Cream blush is actually better in the summer weather, even though it seems counterintuitive. Heavy powders get sludgy and clumpy when you sweat.
  • Mix textures whenever possible. For example, use a cream blush, then brush a powder bronzer lightly over everything. Keep all powders fairly translucent and mattifying. Again, sludge on your face is not attractive.
  • Balance out your shimmer. If you’re doing a shimmery eye, do matte lips. This is especially important for brides to prevent your face from looking really sparkly in pictures.
  • Don’t use waterproof mascara. According to Raychel, an eye doctor did a study of eyelashes and could detect mascara on the lashes that had been applied six weeks earlier. Eww.
  • Biggest makeup bag mistakes? When you carry three of the same color of anything, like three lip glosses in the same shade from different brands. Carry a neutral and a pop of color, so you’re ready for any occasion.
  • Never use or buy anything you don’t absolutely love.
